Our Mission Statement
The Juneteenth Experience is more than a festival it’s a living, breathing tribute to the strength, spirit, and survival of Native Black Americans. Through dynamic exhibitions, theatrical productions, and cultural celebration, we honor the truth of American slavery and the journey toward liberation past, present, and future.
Held in the historic heart of North Minneapolis on West Broadway Avenue a place once known as Minneapolis’ own Black Wall Street this experience reflects a legacy deeper than pain, rooted in resilience. We shine a light on Black excellence, Afro-Indigenous contributions, and the powerful stories too often left untold.
But this isn’t just about race it’s about rebirth.
When the world watched in 2020 as Minneapolis burned in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, what rose from the ashes wasn’t just grief it was unity. Neighbors, strangers, artists, teachers, and organizers came together not divided by race, but united by purpose. Together, we rebuilt. Together, we healed. And together, we continue to set a standard for what it means to be equal, whole, and free.
The Juneteenth Experience is a celebration of that unity a space where history meets hope, where education fuels empowerment, and where community rises above division. We invite all people to stand with us not just to remember, but to reimagine. Not just to witness freedom, but to live it.
“Freedom isn’t just a date on the calendar - it’s the fire we carry, the roots we water, and the future we build together.”
